In the first half of the class you will a tonal approach to drawing that focuses on value massing and the importance of design in shape and edge in relation to the form. You will train with a procedural approach, which forces you to work simple, then gradually progress to more complexity.
The second half of the class will be devoted to applying this approach to painting and analyzing the connection between the two mediums. You will start by working monochromatically with black and white and over time color and color theory will be introduced.
