Most Claude workflows still start the same way: you write a prompt, wait, read the result, decide what to ask next. That works for one-off tasks. It falls apart the moment the work is repetitive, has state, or needs several rounds of checking — because the unit of work is a single prompt, and nothing survives the session.
The better abstraction is not a better prompt. It is a loop.
A Claude loop is a repeatable workflow around the model. It defines what triggers a run, what Claude reads before acting, what it is allowed to change, how the output gets verified, where state is stored, and when the loop should stop, repeat, or escalate to a human. Claude still does the reasoning. The loop supplies the operating structure.
