CGCiruit – Look Dev 4: PBR Texturing

This course is an intermediate introduction on how to do texturing for an asset using a PBR approach inside Substance Painter.

During the course, we will cover how to have a proper acesCG setup inside Substance Painter, additionally, we will cover the fundamental concepts to work texturing from a realistic and physical plausible approach. At the end, we will cover different type of surfaces and how to properly export the maps to be used on Katana and RenderMan.

Some of the key topics on this course are:

  • Understanding the fundamentals of PBR texturing / shading.
  • Implement acesCG environment inside Substance Painter.
  • Work with different type of surfaces on the asset. For instance, dielectrics and conductors.
  • Set up a proper displacement layer.
  • Setup isos to be exported from Substance Painter.
  • Create channels presets for exporting to RenderMan.
  • Exporting all the texture sets in UDIM format with the right color space and file format.
  • Converting those textures to native acesCG
